Student Opportunities

Summer is a perfect time for motivated high school students to start thinking about college.

Wake Forest University offers pre-college online courses to help students ages 13 and older explore their interests. The summer application period is now open. Through participating in our courses, students can discover if an interest could lead to a college major or even a future career.

East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy in Johnson City, Tennessee, is excited to announce several upcoming events for prospective students:

HHP Admitted Students Day:

Are you an admitted ECU student? Visit us on February 21st, 2025! While on campus you will engage with faculty, advisors, and students from your intended major and get a first-hand look at a day in the life of an ECU student. You will have the opportunity to take a walking tour of campus, visit residence halls, and explore campus. You will also hear updates from campus living and student transitions on your next steps. We can’t wait to get you hooked on Pirate Nation!

• Register for the Interior Design and Fashion Merchandising Virtual Academic Day | Tuesday, January 28 | 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. 
  Discover the many aspects of the interior design and fashion industry, including the design process to manufacturing, distribution, marketing, retail, the design of living spaces and  commercial spaces.
•  Register for the School of Social Work Virtual Academic Day  | Wednesday, January 29 | 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
  Learn about the academic path our students take, courses in: human behavior and diversity, social work practice, social policy, research, mental health, and a semester-long internship. Our program graduates have an extremely high job placement rate.
• Register for the Human Development and Family Science Virtual Academic Day | Tuesday, February 4 | 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. | 
  Discover four of our undergraduate academic programs: Birth-Kindergarten Teacher Education, Child Life, Family and Community Services, and Family and Consumer Sciences.
• Register for the Health Education and Promotion Virtual Academic Day | Wednesday, February 5 | 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. 
  You are invited to learn more about the concentrations and coursework in Environmental Health and in Public Health, and the specific careers you can pursue with these degrees.
• Register for the Kinesiology Virtual Academic Day | Tuesday, February 11 | 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
  The Department of Kinesiology offers two undergraduate programs including Exercise Physiology and Physical Education. Learn more about our student experiences, classes, and specific careers you can pursue with these degrees!
• Register for the Sport Management and Recreation Sciences Virtual Academic Day | Wednesday, February 12 | 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. 
  Learn how you can make a difference in the lives of others using sport, recreation and leisure activities how to plan and conduct programs, administrative responsibilities such as supervision and management, facility design, and leadership skills.

• Interested in ECU’s Honors College? Register for Friday, April 11th and join the Kinesiology information session after the conclusion of the Honors College Academic Day in MCSC room 318 from 2:30-3:30. 

Social Work – Gerontology

Learn more about the growing field of Gerontology. HHP offers a certificate and a minor in this area:

• Register for the MINOR info session: Tuesday, February 4th at 5:30 p.m. 
• Register for the CERTIFICATE info session: Tuesday, February 11th at 5:30 p.m. 

The Emerging Journalists Summer Program is a free, fun and immersive summer experience that’s scheduled for June 16-27, 2025. This on-campus residential learning workshop is open to rising seniors from diverse socio-economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds. And, again, it’s completely free. EJP pays for students’ travel, lodging, meals and instructional materials, so now’s the time for your students to submit their applications.
